The Area

What's nearby

There are so many places to walk around here – as well as all the local footpaths, there are lovely woods include Pigneys Wood, and Bacton Woods, both a few minutes drive away. The Weavers Way is also a beautiful walk, you can join it at various places including a little car park in Honing.

Our favourite local beaches include Happisburgh (walk from White Cottage, past the Lighthouse), Cart Gap is the next beach further south.  At Cart Gap we have Smallsticks cafe (dogs welcome in the garden).  Head south again to Eccles beach and then Sea Palling beach.

Sea Palling has a little arcade great for kids (or great big kids!) and a cafe.  Another 5 mins drive further south and you’ll reach the Dunes cafe Waxham at Waxham Barns (dog friendly), you can also walk at Waxham beach here.  Even further south (approx 25 mins drive from White Cottage) is Winterton Beach, beautiful and there are two catering vans in the car park serving great snacks.

Below is a list of our favourite local pubs, followed by cafes, shops and takeaways.
